Weight is an important criterion for motorsport. With the new ultra-light matrix, it is possible to reduce the total weight of HJS  PE catalysts by an additional 50%. The thickness of the catalyst shell can be reduced from 1,5 mm to 0,5 mm using the new three-dimensional bionic structure. In combination with the previously used perforated film (PE), there is a significant weight saving of more than 50% compared to competing products. 
The difference in heat capacity of the steel foil matrix and the shell is an advantage of ultra-light catalysts. This doubles the durability under the extremely high thermal shock loads commonly encountered in motorsport.
